How to make your own chocolate ice cream at home

 

Chocolate ice cream is a favorite for chocolate lovers around the world. It is becoming much more popular to make your own ice cream from home now and many people are on the search for a homemade ice cream recipe. Chocolate ice-cream can be made from home pretty easily as long as you obtain the needed ingredients. To get started, you will need the following:

 

  • 3 cups of half and half
  • 9 ounces of sugar or sugar substitute
  • About a half a cup of  your preferred brand of unsweetened cocoa powered
  • 8 large egg yolks
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract, pure
  • 1 cup of cream, heavy

 

First put the cocoa powder and the half and half into a sauce pan and whisk it together over medium heat. Then add in the heavy cream and let the mixture simmer. Whisk the eggs together until they lighten up in color in another pan and then you want to gradually add in the sugar. Add in the cream mixture from above to the sugar mixture, just a little at a time. Let the combined mixes cook together until the chocolate ice cream mix reaches about 175 degrees Fahrenheit.

 

You want to let the mix sit for about thirty minutes or so at room temperature and then cover it up with plastic wrap. Store the ice cream mix for up to 8 hours and get it to at least 40 degrees Fahrenheit. The chocolate ice cream mix is complete and can be added to any ice cream maker or recipe that you are used to following. This can be a great treat for the kids or even for you on a hot summer day. It is affordable and easy to make and can be done and enjoyed by people of all ages.
