Guide to Maraschino Liqueur
The Maraschino cherry has been a popular fruit for cocktails for years. Now the delicious fruit even has its own line of liqueur. Maraschino Liqueur is a little drier than most people would expect from the juicy Maraschino cherry. The bitter almond flavor really delivers a classy liqueur that is good for mixing and drinking straight. However, you do not want to mix this liqueur with any other type of Maraschino juice or cherry liqueur. These options are much sweeter than the Maraschino flavored liqueur and will offset the intended taste.
There are dozens of cocktails that include Maraschino Liqueur in their mix. The Casa Blanca is a great choice with rum, triple sec, lime juice all mixed with the liqueur. You just have to shake all the ingredients together and then strain it into a cocktail glass or whatever your preferred drinking glass may be. A personal favorite of mine is the Girly Martini. This cocktail will give you four ounces of vodka mixed with three ounces of champagne with a dash of the Maraschino flavored liqueur. Some bartenders may opt to put a splash of dry vermouth in the cocktail as well.
There are a few different brands of Maraschino Liqueur but the leader in the industry is Luxardo. They sell the liqueur in well stoked bottles and for reasonable prices. Depending on the size of bottle that you get you can expect to pay $15 to $40 for your bottle of this liqueur. For some areas of the world you may only be able to find this liqueur for sale online, so be sure to check out a couple different retailers. This way you know you are getting the best deal on your new bottle of this deliciously flavored liqueur.
