Mandarine Napoleon has been around for centuries. It was created by Antoine Francois de Fourcroy, a chemist and the son of a pharmacist. Since 1892, it was owned by the wine merchants Fourcroy to Baine and brewed and bottled in Belgium. In 2009, it was purchased by the Dutch alcohol distiller Koninklijke De Kuyper.
It is a fruit based liqueur that has an alcohol content of 38, made from cognac and tangerines, it also has infused herbs and spices. The liqueur itself has carmine for coloring which gives it its distinct and rich carmel color.
