Sparkling Mineral Water - Drink Secrets

Sparkling Mineral Water

Sparkling Mineral Water: The Original Thirst Quencher

The natural fizz of sparkling mineral water is supposed to be good for health. This effervescence is a direct result of pressurized carbon dioxide being passed though plain water -- making it bubbly and interesting. The process was first invented in 1767 by an Englishman named Joseph Priestly when he suspended a bowl of water over a beer vat. Priestly found that the water he had treated had a pleasant taste and was a very refreshing cool drink which he offered to his friends. In the late eighteenth century, a Swiss amateur scientist named J. J. Schweppes developed a process to manufacture carbonated water using the discovery of Mr. Priestly. Schweppes started his own company using the refined process and the latest technologies available.  Over the years, the company has released many drinks some of which are really well loved and internationally acclaimed brands like Schweppes Ginger Ale and Schweppes Tonic.

Today it has been proven that sparkling mineral water has many health benefits associated with it. The bicarbonate in the water makes it a great method of balancing sodium levels in the body. The sparkling water has also been known to kill harmful bacteria that can attack the immune system. Some of its other properties are that of increasing HDL levels (high density lipoproteins) commonly referred to as the good cholesterol while decreasing the levels of LDL or “bad cholesterol.”

Sparkling water is also a great mixer for many alcohol based drinks and cocktails. This water is sometimes also referred to as seltzer. It can be a great alternative to the sugar rich sodas that are commonly available in the market today. By adding a slice of lime to the sparkling mineral water, the effervescence and the pleasant taste can make for a great summer drink which is naturally low in calories. So instead of grabbing a coffee or a sugary soda, having a cool glass of the sparkling mineral water is a naturally healthier option and a very refreshing one too. Drinking the sparkling mineral water is a good way to keep the energy up and hydrate the body continuously in the hot, sunny days.
