Maple Syrup Drinks

Believe it or not, there are drinks including the ingredient maple syrup. Never would have believed it but some of the recipes sound pretty good! These would be more of a fall and winter concoction but could be enjoyed anytime.

This recipe is called a breakfast rum drink but probably also could be served warm like toddy. You begin with 3 ounces of light rum, 1 ounce lemon juice and 1 ounce maple syrup. In a shaker fill with enough ice to fill up a tall glass, then add your ingredients. Shake for a few minutes and pour back into the glass. If you would like to serve warm, in a large mug pour ingredients (minus the ice) and microwave for a minute.

For those chocolate fans, this one is a chocolate maple syrup drink. It sounds very good and could also be a drink for brunch! Start out with a shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream, a shot of milk, a teaspoon of chocolate syrup, two scoops of chocolate ice cream and a shot of maple syrup. Mix all ingredients in a blender with a cup of ice. Serve immediately.

To spike up you morning pancakes, you add a tablespoon of rum with your maple syrup, a teaspoon of butter and warm in the microwave until butter is melted.

With Christmas around the corner, eggnog, maple syrup and a shot of whiskey makes for a jolly good fellow! Or you can just leave out the whiskey and mix the eggnog with the maple syrup for a flavorful drink.

For a cold winter night try some cognac, maple syrup, dark rum, a little milk and add a cinnamon stick to a mug and warm just a little bit so it makes for a very cozy drink.

So put another log on the fire, get your favorite blanket and have one of these wonderful recipes.
