Jack Daniels - Drink Secrets

Jack Daniels

Jack Daniel's No. 7 Brand is a Tennessee whiskey named after the man who began the label. No one knows the significance of the number 7 in the title, but this whiskey is mellowed through sugar maple charcoal and is matured in white oak barrels with a toasted interior to flavor the drink. At 40% alcohol, its smoky flavor and smooth quality have turned it into one of the most popular whiskies in North America.

Their distillery is also the only one to make its own barrels for the maturing process. Jack Daniel's whiskey was first bottled in earthenware jugs and won its first gold medal at the World's Fair in St. Louis in 1904 and continued to win medals in Belgium, England, and Amsterdam for the next 80 years. It is said that the square shape of the bottle is because Mr. Jack Daniels fancied himself a square shooter because he wanted a more unique look for his whiskey than the usual rounded fare. He was so particular about these bottles that he continued to introduce new types which are still currently available.

The Jack Daniel's Distillery in Tennessee is the only location where it is made and is the oldest registered distillery in the United States, dating back to 1866. The location of the distillery has easy access to iron-free case spring water, which adds to the taste of this great alcohol.

Arguably one of the most popular cocktails in America is the Jack and Coke, as it has been nicknamed, which obviously is Jack Daniels and Coca Cola. However, there are many other cocktails including this fine whiskey, such as the Lynchburg Lemonade, which includes triple sec, sour mix, and lemon-lime soda garnished with cherries – a very fine drink if ever one was had!
